29. AI

English version: AI

AI

AI

AI is setting sail across the world’s oceans at full speed. AI possesses superhuman intelligence but lacks a conscience. It seems that AI shares this lack of conscience with many less intelligent beings, world leaders, politicians, businesspeople, and ordinary people. If an unscrupulous villain exploits AI, it creates a multiplicity of unscrupulousness that can cause great harm. On the other hand, a manifold goodness can arise if a good person has AI as a friend in their work.

What those who sail with AI need is a functional ethical compass, a functional conscience. By conscience, I mean a constructive sense of justice, an ability to determine what is right and wrong, good and evil.

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil comes back into focus. It is not about knowledge in general, but knowledge of what is good and evil. Only God can determine this. When humanity ate the fruit of this tree, she chose to determine for herself what is good and evil. Her choices become subjective. What benefits her becomes good, and what does not benefit her becomes evil. Here we find the cause of all the world’s conflicts, both great and small.

There was another tree in the Garden of Eden—the Tree of Life. To eat from the Tree of Life means fellowship with the Creator of the universe, God, and to share in His life. In a Christian context, this involves spiritual maturity through following Jesus, the Christ, and as a result, gaining a conscience that can discern what is good and evil from the Creator’s perspective. Then AI can become a tool that helps rather than hinders.
