40. Valet 2026

English version: The-2026-Election

Valet 2026

The 2026 Election

The election campaign is in full swing. The various parties are presenting their ideologies and plans for how they want to change society. Some politicians are passionate advocates who are deeply committed to their ideals, while others are more tactical, calculating, and—not infrequently, one suspects—power-hungry.

On the whole, Sweden is a good country to live in, even though there are some forces that want to restrict our freedom of opinion and expression. “Repressive Tolerance” (selective tolerance), an approach introduced by the German-American philosopher Herbert Marcuse, is visible on both the right and the left—and sometimes even in the center. A culture of silence and cancel culture is trying to take hold. You may need to watch your step if you want to keep your job and your friends.

There is much in our society that I would like to change. Since I see myself as a follower of Jesus Christ, I would like to see his teachings—in word and deed—take root throughout society. I believe everyone in our country would benefit from that. “To love God with all one’s heart and one’s neighbor as oneself” would, in my opinion, solve virtually all the problems we are grappling with in our society. However, this is not something that can be forced upon people. Jesus is clear that if one wants to follow him, it must be a free choice, a matter of the heart.

Jesus spoke of the Kingdom of God, a new world order. When this kingdom takes root in people’s hearts, it can transform individuals, families, and entire communities. It is a revolution—a revolution of love. God’s kingdom in this age is like a parallel society, a parallel society of love where people love God with all their heart and their neighbor as themselves.
